My wife and I bought a 2013 Cooper S JCW a few months back. The dealership only advertised it as a Cooper S, but it has all the JCW upgrades. We think the dealership (well, its not really a dealership, but serves the same function) didn't really know what car they were selling, so we got it for a great price: $14.5 out the door, 50,000 miles. I'm curious, is the engine different? Is the JCW faster than the S or is it just a body kit upgrade?

Its a great car, and an absolute blast to drive. Its also fast, especially compared to the Subaru Boat Legacy I drive to work every day (the Cooper is my wife's car.). I have an 08 Cooper S JCW. You power output is a bit higher on the base model for your year.
The standard Cooper S produces 172hp, and the JCW kit has two stages, 192hp(?) and 197(?). Your year may be a bit higher. The dedicated JCW car has 226ish hp. You would know if it was a dedicated car because of a special wing, wheels, paint, serial number, documentation, and much larger price. Your car likely also has different spring ratios, and the dsc system (traction control.) Your car likely has a different fuel map, and transmissions ratios, along with a stiffer clutch. Look at the motor cover, and it should have a little sticker indicating the number of the JCW kit.

They were serialized. Also, you probably have JCW exhaust tips. If you call mini usa and give them the vin, they will tell you exactly what was installed.
